Thorogood's hot album singing life into Rounder Records

Eliot Wald / Field News Service

Extract:

Thorogood is more than a label artist to Rounder. They are his managers, publishers, booking agents, publicists and distributors. They also are his best friends.

And a good thing, for Thorogood seems to have spent his life doing nothing but listening to old blues and rock and roll. When Elvis Costello's management recently asked George to open for Elvis' tour, "George honestly had no idea who Elvis Costello was. George had never heard of Bruce Springsteen either — he still calls him 'Bruce Supersteen'."

Eliot Wald's profile of George Thorogood says he was asked to be the opening act on a recent Elvis Costello tour — possibly the 1979 Armed Funk Tour or the 1979 European tour.
