40 years on ............................... As a warm up for a short, and by now, rather regular tour of Sweden in summer, Elvis and the Attractions appear at a few festivals, including a rare outing to the Macroom Festival in the south of Eire followed by two outdoor gigs in Belgium. This is an audience recording from the first of those shows at Torhout. The recording is incomplete and breaks off during "Watching The Detectives" at almost exactly 45 minutes which suggests that the person recording probably failed to successfully complete a tape flip on their recording equipment - we've all been there haven't we? The recording I have came from a trade back in the early 1980s and is allegedly a second generation copy and was eagerly anticipated as I thought we might get a C'n'W concert but apart from a nifty version of "Why Don't You Love Me (Like You Used To Do)", the set is a typical cut down concert performance as witnessed in the U.K. in March of 1981. There are a lot of strange performances from the band though with a very obscure riff from Bruce at the start of "Green Shirt" and the eccentricity is continued into the start of "Big Tears". Otherwise, it’s a pretty decent enough performance with no real shocks or surprises though "King Horse" is not prefaced by any other intro (contrary to the wiki - unless you count the little guitar figure at the start) and there's no sign of Romeo's "Wet Dream" in "Detectives".
