PreviewsBostonpops.org/: "Rock legend Elvis Costello will join Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops to launch the 2006 Pops season on May 10. Opening Night at Pops features Il Sogno ("The Dream"), Mr. Costello's first full-length orchestral work, as well as a collection of his pop and rock hits. Elvis Costello was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 after 25 years of musical achievement. Perhaps best known for his performances with The Attractions and The Imposters, he has also written songs recorded by such diverse artists as Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield, and No Doubt. Il Sogno was originally commissioned in 2000 by Aterbaletto, an Italian dance company, for their interpretation of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Mr. Costello's music incorporates elements as stylistically diverse as jazz and folk to create an original classical sound. A critically acclaimed recording of Il Sogno was released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2004 and remained at the top of Billboard's Contemporary Classical Charts for 14 weeks." Reviews
