Extract:
In the wake of The Sex Pistols, the Kingfish — Baton Rouge's preeminent music club on Perkins Road — will host a lively assortment of singers and groups in the coming weeks.
Ramsey Lewis will be in residence Wednesday, followed by the wild antics of Vince Vance and the Valiants on Thursday; Doug Kershaw on Friday and the Flying Burrito Bros. on Saturday.
The doors generally open at 8: 30 p.m. nightly. For further information, call The Kingfish Concert Line, 1-504-343-1343.
Also of interest ... the bizarre Elvis Costello, a British phenomenon who skirts around the punk rock genre, will appear at The Kingfish on Jan. 27 only.
Of a more sublime nature ... The Shreveport Symphony Opera will perform Donizetti's classic comedy Don Pasquale at 3 p.m. today, with a performance Monday evening, in the Civic Theater. For information, call the Symphony office (1-869-2559) or the theater (226-6469).
