You Little Fool

Elvis Costello & The Attractions

Betty Page

Lay those groovy textures on me, maan! Couldn’t bear Elv’s Nashville gropings, glad he’s back on this track. Prepare for confusion on the first listen – this darn near turns normaloid song conceptions upside down, rather akin to acid-hippy period Lennon, all jangles, echoes and phases.

It’s packed full of tempting accoutrements, rich melodies, unexpected quirks and turns. He’s a master of song structure. I’ll agree, even if the chubby one never appealed personally.
