Blood & Chocolate live in DC 1/28/2012

Post by jdogric12 »

Hi everyone. Just wanted to let you know I'm putting on a show in Washington, DC on Jan. 28, 2012 at the Electric Maid. It's called "Classic Albums 1986" and features 5 local singer-songwriters doing their interpretations of albums released that year. Each artist has picked an album, and will do about 20 minutes' worth of it. I'm particularly tickled I get to do Blood & Chocolate, one of my favorites. My band just added a keyboardist, so we've got the perfect lineup to nail an Attractions sound (even if we don't quite have the chops!!!)

I think I've narrowed it down to:
Blue Chair
Uncomplicated
I Hope You're Happy Now
I Want You
Crimes of Paris
and a special surprise for EC fans too! 8)

Also on the bill:
Rene Moffatt as Paul Simon (Graceland)
Adrian Krygowski as Peter Gabriel (So)
Jon Kaplan as Bruce Springsteen (Live 75-85)
and Amber Dutton (album tbd)

Here's my original stuff in case you're interested: www.metrosongs.org

Nice forum you have here! Cheers, J

I initially missed the part about only doing a 20-minute representation, and my first thought upon seeing this was, "Holy crap, this Jon Kaplan's got stamina!"

adding Poor Napoleon

and... the special surprise is (I'll leak it here only!) we're cutting Crimes of Paris about 30 seconds in, and switching to Radio Radio a la the famous SNL event. I hate to cut Crimes of Paris, but it's all in good fun! :)

Friendly reminder, everyone, if you're near DC.

Btw... does anyone have the video of the famous SNL incident, and can post here the exact words he said? I know it's something like, "Ladies and gentlemen there's no reason to play this song" Thanks, J

Here it is http://vimeo.com/34008317 and I think he said "I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen, there's no reason to do this song here"
"Everything Important I Learned In Life Was From Woody Allen."
