Ayako posts to listserv:
I went to the second show in Tokyo, and it was even better
than the first one. Elvis' voice sounded amazing! A lot of
highlights for me, such as The Spell That You Cast, I Hope,
and Brilliant Mistake, etc.

01. Green Shirt - accompanied with iPad sound
02. (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes
03. Motel Matches
04. Little Triggers
05. Veronica
06. Good Year For The Roses
07. Pennies From Heaven / A Voice In The Dark
08. New Amsterdam / You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
09. Everyday I Write The Book - "I hate this song"
10. The Spell That You Cast - sitting in a chair
11. A Slow Drag With Josephine - partly without mic
12. Almost Blue - without mic, sitting on the edge of the stage
13. Watching The Detectives - with iPad accompaniment
14. Alison

Encore 1
15. Beyond Belief - sitting in a chair
16. Toledo - chair
17. She - chair

Encore 2
18. Oliver's Army
19. Shipbuilding
20. (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding?
21. Radio Sweetheart / Jackie Wilson Said

Encore 3
22. National Ransom No.2 - with iPad, loudspeaker、guide light and siren

Encore 4
23. All Or Nothing At All - sitting in a chair
24. Brilliant Mistake
25. Man Out Of Time
26. I Hope
27. Pump It UP /Subterranean Homesick Blues

I had a chance to chat with Elvis afterwards, and asked him
"Who is Jimmie Quickly?", for which he responded immediately
"I don't know!"

Very impressive use of technology there, Elv, but you should have waited for the iPad 2 which is coming out next week.

That is a most impressive series of set lists for the Tokyo shows posted to date. It is the type of overview that would most attract me as I have no desire to nostalgia trip down the spinning wheel -did that in '86 and once is enough and the Imposters or Canes do not perk up my ears- just EC and his guitars, or in some instances his 'tablet'. I will always contend that one of the strongest performances over the last decade from him was just he and his guitars opening for Dylan. It is nice to read that he is in good voice and seemingly engaged with his material.

From listserv -

I've just realized that I omitted one song - he played
River In Reverse between Watching the Detective and Alison.
So 28 songs played in total!

I can't believe he played two shows in Tokyo and didn't once warn them about the storm.

Cool.. All or Nothing at All... I don't think I've heard E.C.'s version of this song. Frank's version, well, it's epic. I am thankful that I was turned onto Frank and Sid Mark when I was a kid. You can't find this combination anymore... unless you can connect to Sid Mark's airwaves - Friday w/ Frank; Saturday with Sinatra - you decide!

Elvis' version is much of a tense tango than Sinatra's.

He may well have done for all we know - no recordings have surfaced yet...

...and I wonder if he made mention about the monster movie scenery in Korea...
Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo?
