RIP: Barry Hannah
Noted the passing of Barry Hannah on Monday, March 1st. I will miss his stories fueled by their manic, crazed, sentences. One of my favorite story writers. Darkly comic, the real heir to Flannery O'Connor. I treasure my first edition copy of Geronimo Rex, a novel that introduced me to him in the early 70's. I never tire of the stories in Airships, Bats Out of Hell and High Lonsesome. Superb hijinks and just such electric prose. We lost a strong talent and exemplar of the Southern story telling tradition.
