What song can you absolutely NOT GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

What song can you absolutely NOT GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD?

Post by Mechanical Grace »

You know, the one you've played over and over again, and it's still not enough, or the one that's in your head when you wake up four days in a row? Well, what is it this week? This month?!?

For the past four or five days I've been trying to pry this song from my brain, but it's holding on like a tick on a dog:

Anna (Go To Him) and Devil In Her Heart - The Beatles.

I've been listening a lot to the Beatles' first four albums recently, and I'm in love with them (again).
Just humming Anna ... :D
If you don't know what is wrong with me
Then you don't know what you've missed

The Hyrule town theme music from my kids' Legend of Zelda game. So relentlessly cheerful.

That one IS a sticker, ain't it??? Whether or not it's by power of suggestion, which I think it's not. Jeeze I love ELO.

Holy cow, you are not kidding! I think I'm rid of it, but no, there it is, first thing every morning for about a week now. I once had King Horse every morning for about six months, which actually started to get a little spooky in a Groundhog Day kind of way.

We Are The Pipettes - The Pipettes

It's a catchy song with easy lyrics and will just make you bouncy. And it sticks in your head.

New Order - Age of Consent. That one's been there a lot in the last 23.5 years. The line 'And now that I've actually heard it/You're going to regret' always sticks out due to that odd intransitive use of transitive 'regret' (like the use of transitive 'Enjoy!' as imperative), but I love it.

"Karmacoma" - Massive Attack from "Protection"

Once this creeps through your tympanic membrane, down the basilar membrane, through the auditory nerve, and into the cortex, it takes up residence and squats for days. Great song.

You once was an Inca
Now you`re a Cherokee
C-c-c-cucumber
C-c-c-cabbage
C-c-c-cauliflower
Men on Mars
April showers
(kick it, kick it)

... one of Mac's more barmy lyrics
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

Deeply Dippy by Right Said Fred was on the radio yesterday morning and I just can't stop replaying, in my head, these lines -

Deeply dippy 'bout your Spanish eyes
Sierra smile, legs that go on for miles and miles
Oh see those legs man
Miles and miles

My co-worker pointed out to me that a song by this German band I like uses the riff from Europe's "The Final Countdown." So I've had it stuck in my head ALL WEEKEND. Which has been really pleasant for the people around me.

"Buffalo Soldier" - Bob Marley
Hum the chorus twice. That's enough.
Now it's on YOU. Try to shake it.
