Tori Amos covers Hoover Factory

Post by EarlManchester »

Tori Amos covered Hoover Factory in London last Friday.

Fan site http://www.turbidblue.com/ has a 14mb / 320kbps mp3 of it for download.

Scroll halfway down the page to "London 6/03/05" and look for "To download these highlights, click here!" -- or skip the nice interface and go directly here:

Current music: Hoover Factory - Elvis Costello & The Attractions

ask and you will be answered
driving home from Illinois this Sunday, Elvis Costello's little pop ditty Hoover Factory. I've always liked it; it's catchy, less than two minutes, and completely non-commercial.

Five miles out of London on the Western Avenue
must have been a wonder when it was brand new
talkin' 'bout the splendor of the Hoover Factory
I know that you'd agree if you could see it too

It was ringing around the back of my head just now, so I Googled a bit, and there it was

: pictures of a lovely, Art Deco building, and an explanation of what Western Avenue was: "When built, the Western Avenue was a potent symbol of the modern age; a wide, tree lined boulevard intended to whisk the increasingly motorized masses out of the City and off to the west."

Green for go, green for action
From Park Royal to North Acton
Past scrolls and inscriptions like those of the Egyptian age
And one of these days the Hoover factory
Is gonna be all the rage in those fashionable pages.

So now I know.

But Torn Anus makes it clearer that it's about someone else, namely she of the exaggeratedly overwrought self-indulgent emoting (that might in fact lead to a torn anus) 8) .

In Swedish her first name reads "Dry in."

A friend of mine burnt a cd with his fave songs of hers and called it Xyloproct.

Tore Me Anus is funny considering she also covers Slayer's Raining Blood.
What this world needs is more silly men.

Heard this for the first time tonight. I like her covers, in general:
