Tampa setlist 2-20-04

Post by snarling pup »

45
Green Shirt
Suit of Lights
Long Honeymoon
This House is Empty Now
You Left Me in the Dark
Someone Took the Words Away
No Wonder
Home Truth
You Turned To Me
Fallen
God’s Comic
Sleep of the Just
PLU
Either Side of the Same Town
When It Sings
Still
God Give Me Strength
Watching the Detectives
Almost Blue
I’m in the Mood Again
The Scarlet Tide
Pump It Up
The Dark End of the Street

A solid performance, just under two hours. God's Comic featured a digression about Dick Cheney, who was visiting Tampa today and supposedly staying at the same hotel as EC. Suit of Lights was dedicated to Justin Timberlake...

Good setlist from Elvis but I hope he makes the shows relatively longer as the tour goes on which he usually does. In '99 his shows with Steve went just over 2 and half hours. Nice to see he likes performing tunes off of 'King' still but only half of NORTH was performed! You've gotta give us at least three quarters of the new album Elvis! :)
I can't remember being any younger.

I heartily agree about NORTH. It is funny that NORTH was more critically acclaimed here but is (so far) getting more live coverage there.

If he doesn't play CAN YOU BE TRUE in either NYC or Boston I will surely shrivel up out of sheer sadness. And if he does play it I will surely cry.

This business about length of shows is subject to a number of variables. EC has been kept to about 2 hours on most of his recent L.A. shows because of union rules which mandate that shows have to be finished by 11:00 p.m.

I'm pro-union -- but I'd rather they got paid OT or something! (In fact, I'm all for paying stagehands a little bit more, and, to compensate, paying MUCH, MUCH, MUCH less to Ticketmaster execs! Minimum wage sounds about right. )

Just an ok show, very mellow. Green Shirt and God Give Me Strength
were awesome. Disappointed he did not do Couldn't Call it Unexpected or
play a little longer. Crowd was lame, but behaved well during the quiet
songs. Could here a guy puking during You Left Me in the Dark. He
must not have liked the song.

There were about 50 people waiting for him at the stage door. He came
right and was very gracious. He took photos and signed for everyone.

I'm sure this was awful for Elvis as he was sick himself, but can I just saw that made me laugh outloud?

Why doesn't he just start earlier then?
Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo?
