How personal is it?
We can say it is pathetic, but they are only doing what their personal beliefs "require". Jesus wants them to spread the "good news".
I wonder how "personal" beliefs can be when they come from some other human, that is, mom and dad, preacher or priest.
Some of these folks are the same who insist that the USA is a "Christian nation".
It isn't...

I believe in the soul
The cock
The pussy
The small of a woman's back
The hanging curveball, high fiber, good scotch,
That the novels of Susan Sontag are self indulgent over rated crap
I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing astroturf
and the designated hitter
I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography,
opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and
I believe in long slow deep soft wet kisses that last 3 days

Sorry, my inane attempt at humor and irony fell short.crash8_durham wrote:It's just a movie line. And besides, does it really even matter at this point?
You see, Kevin Costner was the lead actor in both Crash Durham and JFK. I was attempting to make a clever interplay between the two movies; one where he spoke the quote that you repeated, and the other, where he played the New Orleans District Attorney attempting to prove that Oswald was not alone, and possibly not even involved in the Kennedy assasination.
I was not attempting to mock you, or your post. It was a failed attempt at humor on my part. I'm sorry.
When Sunday nights come I usually retreat to my nest of alchohol and the internet. I somehow hope that reaching out anonymously via my self obsessed superior wit and wisdom will somehow calm the current of unrest in this world, and moreover, may help me get laid.
I meant no ill will to you, or Kevin Costner. Hell, I liked The Postman.
I am responsible, the buck stops here, and if I thought I would be ineffective I would resign. But I will not step down based on pressure put on me for purely political motives.
