Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello to Embark on Summer Co-Headlining Tour

Forty years after they sang together on record on “The Only Flame in Town,” Daryl Hall and Elvis Costello will tour together as co-headliners this summer, hitting the road in June and July for a 22-city outing.

The Live Nation-promoted tour begins June 2 in Troutdale, Oregon and wraps up July 25 in Vienna, Virginia.

Tickets go on sale March 15 at 10 a.m. local time.

Key stops along the way include four shows in the Southern California area: Santa Barbara June 14, San Diego June 16, Los Angeles on June 18 and Rancho Mirage on June 21.

The double-header will also hit Seattle early in its run, on June 6, and Las Vegas on June 23, before moving to the Northeast for the tour’s second half, including shows in Philadelphia on July 10, Boston on July 14 and New York City on July 16.

Hall had done a series of recent tours with Todd Rundgren as the featured opening act. If those shows are any indication, it seems possible Hall and Costello may join their voices at some point during the night, as the Hall/Rundgren tours featured the two artists together for part of the show.

Costello will be accompanied on all the dates by his backing band of the last two decades, the Imposters, which has a prominently billed Charlie Sexton as what is looking to be a semi-permanent sit-in second guitarist. Costello most recently toured as a headliner with Nick Lowe as his opening act.

The Hall/Costello tour itinerary:

June 2 – Troutdale, OR
June 4 – Airway Heights, WA
June 6 – Seattle, WA
June 8 – Bend, OR
June 10 – Saratoga, CA
June 12 – Lincoln, CA
June 14 – Santa Barbara, CA
June 16 – San Diego, CA
June 18 – Los Angeles, CA
June 21 – Rancho Mirage, CA
June 23 – Las Vegas, NV
July 4 – Toronto, ON
July 6 – Highland Park, IL
July 8 – Detroit, MI
July 10 – Philadelphia, PA
July 12 – Uncasville, CT
July 14 – Boston, MA
July 16 – New York, NY
July 18 – Holmdel, NJ
July 20 – Bethel, NY
July 22 – Gilford, NH
July 25 – Vienna, VA
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

ABOUT DARYL HALL
Daryl Hall is a modern-day renaissance man, an inductee
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the star of his very own
award-winning web series, Live from Daryl’s House, as well as a
successful venue owner with “Daryl’s House,” a restored venue and live
music space in Pawling, N.Y.

The Philadelphia soul man is still achieving career milestones more than
four decades later, continuing to perform with his band to sold out venues everywhere.

It’s been quite a decade for Hall, including the opening of “Daryl’s House,”
a combination world-class restaurant and performance venue, which he kicked off on
October 31, 2014. The popular venue also serves as home base for his
multi award-winning Live from Daryl’s House. The show, which began as a
“light bulb” moment for Hall when he launched it in 2007 as a free
webcast, has set the standard for artist-initiated projects. The
groundbreaking series provides a mix of legends and the next generation
of superstars. “Live From Daryl’s House” streams on Daryl Hall’s YouTube
channel.

Previous episodes of Live From Daryl’s House have featured a
diverse mix of veteran and new performers from rock, soul, country and
R&B including rock legends Sammy Hagar, Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick, Tommy
Shaw, Kenny Loggins, Todd Rundgren, Nick Lowe, Dave Stewart and Billy
Gibbons of ZZ Top; soul and R&B artists The O’Jays, Aaron Neville, Aloe
Blacc, Kandace Springs, Elle King, Wyclef Jean, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo
Green, Booker T & The MGs, and Sharon Jones; big-league
singer/songwriters such as Ben Folds, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Gavin
DeGraw, Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump;
country artists such as Shelby Lynne; and has helped break new acts like
Fitz & The Tantrums, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Neon Trees,
Johnnyswim, Parachute and Anderson East. The latest episodes of the show
feature Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook, Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr, Andy
Grammer, Lisa Loeb, Robert Fripp, and Howard Jones.

Daryl Hall has come a long way, and he’s still got plenty of mileage left
in a career that’staken him from the streets of Philadelphia to the halls of
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The best is yet to come.

ABOUT ELVIS COSTELLO
Elvis Costello is a writer and part-time musician who made a
number of records in the 20th Century, some of which are still
remembered today.

He was born in London and raised there and in Liverpool.

Costello is the composer or lyricist of over six hundred published
titles, including fifteen songs co-written with Paul McCartney and
renowned collaborations with Allen Toussaint, the Brodsky Quartet and T
Bone Burnett.

Costello’s songwriting alliance with Burt Bacharach, began in 1995 with
the song, “God Give Me Strength”, which led to the 1998 album, “Painted
From Memory”, before their work was collected in 2023, on the four-album
set, “The Songs Of Bacharach & Costello”.

Elvis Costello songs have been recorded by Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash,
Chet Baker, Dusty Springfield, Solomon Burke, George Jones, Linda
Ronstadt and Bjork, while among the artists with whom he has written
songs are Loretta Lynn, Carole King, Rosanne Cash and Kris Kristofferson
and his wife, Diana Krall.

Working purely as a lyricist, Costello has provided words for the music
of Billy Strayhorn, Oscar Peterson and for twelve Charles Mingus
compositions and as a composer, set twelve unpublished lyrics by Bob
Dylan.

2024 will see the opening of “A Face In The Crowd”, Sarah Ruhl’s stage
adaptation of the Budd Schulberg story for which Elvis Costello composed
the songs.

“A Face In The Crowd” will open at the Young Vic in London on 10th September 2024, directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah and produced by Adam Kenwright.

Elvis Costello is the author of “Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink”, a
more than six-hundred page memoir which has been translated into six
languages. He has received a range of awards over his 45 year old career
of which the induction into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame is probably the
most significant.

Although he holds two honorary doctorates in music – one from the University
of Liverpool and another from the New England Conservatory- Elvis Costello
is known for playing the guitar with almost no regard for common sense.

Costello currently performs with The Imposters; his long time companions, drummer, Pete Thomas and pianist, Steve Nieve, bassist of twenty-three years standing, Davey Faragher and
their special guest, Texas guitarist, Charlie Sexton.

I'm thinking they might do more than FLAME. Last year, with my bud TODD RUNDGREN, Daryl and he dueted 3 songs at Hall's encore: one Hall and Oates, one TR and a cover of the soul classic: DIDN'T I BLOW YOUR MIND THIS TIME! I'll gladly sign on for a similar approach this year.

I didn't think this would be a co-headlining show.

I think co headlining implies 75 minute sets each which is a good thing. I guess it would mean Daryl joins the Imposters for the duet in the first set of the night. Which resembles the 2008 tour with the Police when Sting would join for Alison in the EC set. Will Elvis be back for the Daryl encore??? Let's brainstorm....what Hall & Oates do you want Elvis to sing? :D

YOU MUST BE GOOD FOR SOMETHING is my pick!!

and wasn't the Blondie tour five summers ago pretty much a co headline too? They played more than an hour and I'll repeat my stance that they kinda topped EC set at the two shows I attended. Should be fun no matter which way the wind blows.

P.S. the 7 p.m. start time at all shows bodes well too

There was an online rumour that EC and Steve were playing at Glastonbury this year. Its from 26-30 June so those US dates might still allow for that...

One of my favorite Costello duets is From a Whisper to a Scream. I wonder if there is any chance that Daryl might step into Glen Tilbrook's shoes and do that song with Elvis on this tour. And the earworm would last for days!

I’d happily pay through the nose (and have) to see EC live, but I absolutely refuse to buy a ticket that doesn’t have a dedicated seat assignment. I would have bought a top ticket for the Wolf trap this morning but all that gets me is entry into a lottery system. I could get a great center orchestra seat, or be leaning against a side wall in row O. I wish to hell he’d get rid of this BS.

Not sure what you mean by lottery system. Was this the EC presale? I’ve never seen a lottery system on concert tickets. I’ve seen a few wait in the queue situations. I’m sure EC has nothing to do with how the ticketing platforms operate. One thing is certain, they will gouge you as best they can. Good luck scoring the tickets you desire. I’ll be pushing computer buttons early next week once the Mt Winery presale goes live. Wish me luck. Peace.

I just called the mt winery and told them the website isn’t recognizing the artist code and is probably only accepting their loyalty club code (if anyone has that code - please share. Loyalty club qualifiers are attending 4 shows last year. Was not me. Only saw Squeeze there last year.)

I forwarded the EC.com email indicating the offer and told the Mt Wine gal to call me back. Let’s see if they get back to me. These cushy little outdoor concert spots have a laid back attitude when getting sh*t done. Peace

Thanks, Mojo. It's very confusing. If you go to the elviscostello.com website, there is now a link active that takes you to a page that offers you seats in Section 1 (dead center, nearest stage) or Sections 3 or 4 (above section 1). And makes it look like you can buy directly from the Elvis site without going through the usual AXS rigmarole. But when you select seats is says "these seats aren't available . . . but some tickets are, please refresh the page." Totally crapout.

Okay. The Mt Wine gal called me back. She gave me a code that “she said” was only unique for me (bs) and also said not to share the code with anyone. I need to honor her request.

So my recommendation, call this number - 408-913-1722. Press 0 for switchboard ops. If no one picks up, call again… and again (took me a few times. They are basking in the sun on that mountain. Probably taste testing - who knows!). Once you chat with someone, tell them the EC artist code isn’t working. (I forwarded the EC.com email to them so they know it’s a legit offer.)

And momma mia, ticket prices for VIP and premium are pricey. Scored standard tickets - okay seats. Maybe waiting for public sale is the way to go.. or not. Whatever. Gotta go make $$ to recoup funds. Peace.
