Almost as retro as The Bees. Huge palate of quite delightful ideas. Has hints of their former life as The Beta Band, bits of SFA and all sorts of other weird bits and bobs. Fabulous packaging for the vinyl edition too.

It's kind of a cross between 'Sunshine Hit Me' and 'Free The Bees'. Slightly more ska flavour at times and with some cracking harmonies. Recommended.

It confuses me that there are two bands called The Bees.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Yeah, I know. A bit tricky. I think these guys have been forced to call themselves Band of Bees over here.

Harpo - Movie Star

You feel like Steve McQueen when you're driving in your car
And you think you look like James Bond when you're smoking your cigar.

Stereo Total covered that!

I am listening to Pavement's "Wowee Zowee," which I just(!) picked up.

Just got this from Amazon and I like it a lot.
The 7-minute version of the single, Everybody Takes A Tumble, is a beauty.

The label sent me a copy. Gotta love freebies.

The album is a bit spotty, but I'm really enjoying "Rehab", ""You Know I'm No Good", "Me and Mr. Jones", "Back to Black" and "Tears Dry On Their Own." You've gotta hand it to the producers of this album more than anyone, I think.

I've been listening to that as well, Blue. Pretty darn good, I thought. I've heard, or rather, read reviewers call it girl-group or something, but it reminds me of James Bond music. I think it was a childhood trauma.

Yeah, it's well produced, but the songs are strong and her voice is fantastic. Girl-group, my arse. In an age of endless blandness and uniformity when it comes to the popular charts, a screaming liability of a drunk with mad tattoos and madder hair and a penchant for the word 'fuckery' is one of the most uplifting sights of the decade.

Glad you're enjoying the new Waterboys, IP. Very good reviews here. 'Mike Scott has found his muse again', etc. Observer Music Monthly review by Graeme Thompson was one such. I've got it on order from CD-WOW, but couldn't resist the version + DVD, and they say it won't ship till the 10th. Needs to be here for the 19th, cos that's my 15th wedding anniversary, and this, along with tickets to see them the next week, is part of the stash of treats with which I will ply my sweetheart.

DVD footage is a bit messy, but I guess it was meant to be that way, as it's a sort of inside look at the life of the band on tour.
So you'll get some singing on the tour bus, guys shopping for clothes, Mike visiting the place where the band recorded Fisherman's Blues, but also bits of recent live performances which show how great they are in concert.

That's what I was hoping for. The £5 difference was a bit much, but the visiting of Spiddal (I think that's where he was, near Galway) will be of interest. Can't wait to hear it.
