Your Ten Favourite...... Neil Young Songs

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Your Ten Favourite...... Neil Young Songs

Post by BlueChair »

I don't think we've done this one yet, so (in no particular order):

1. For The Turnstiles
2. Out On The Weekend
3. World On A String
4. Cortez The Killer
5. Powderfinger
6. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
7. Only Love Can Break Your Heart
8. Don't Let It Bring You Down
9. Old Man
10. Words (Between The Lines of Age)
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

My list is way skewed towards the early stuff, as I've not kept up with Neil as well as I'd like to have... so little time, so much music....

1. The Needle And the Damage Done
2. Sugar Mountain
3. Only Love Can Break Your Heart
4. Unknown Legend
5. Hey, Hey, My, My (Into the Black)
6. Old Man
7. Cinnamon Girl
8. Long May You Run
9. Like A Hurricane
10. Sleeps With Angels

I have to admit I thought it was a Top 15 list! Still glad it gave me space to add a few more favorites!

All great lists, what a remarkable career.

Did you know there's a little Spanish pueblo in the low-key province of Badajoz near the Portuguese border called Albuquerque. It's tiny. Drove through it once and howled out Neil's words with glee.

I revisited Sleeps With Angels the other day. Boy is it good, first side in particular. I voted Train of Love/Western Hero as one song, as there the two sides of the same musical coin, which was a bizarre and intriguing move, but works perfectly. I was wondering if there are any quotes about this and why he did it. Any revelations in the Shakey biography? Driveby is magnificent, wishing I listed that too!
