What are you listening to right now?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Bonus tracks are a real treat. First a few live recordings from a 1977 London concert showing Marley and his band at their best, and then a couple of lesser-known songs including two versions of the superb Punky Reggae Party. Classic stuff !!

Wonderful. I love the fact that M. Ward is out there making great, new music. My early favorites are "Chinese Translation" and "Magic Trick."

Check out the video for "Chinese Translation".. it's awesome:

Still loving this mightily ... oh to be in L.A and be able to see the double bill with Brian Wilson...now THAT would be a show!

I'm really enjoying this. Perhaps I shall explore more of Cale's work (though from what I've understood there's nothing else like this in his catalogue). Perhaps Fear?

Best track - During One Night ( just Matt 'n minimal backing - unheard since it was used in a 1961 cheapo Brit. film)

Unlikely to sell out, or will hordes expecting Perfect Way etc. go flocking. Unless they expand (and I doubt it as it's a very established set now), the only oldies are Sweetest Girl (finally seeing it live - really, what could be more satisfying?), Skank Bloc Bologna (the only song from the early atonal phase I can really get on with, and totally fantastic live, huge reggae bass, great lilt to it), and then an encore of Wood Beez. Going to see them again in London in Nov. Once not enough, and though I think this new injection of interest and acclaim will spur him on to more work and hopefully more touring now he's finally acquired a taste for it, you never know, it may only be 2006 (though bibbly-o-tek claims he's working on a new solo record of songs and a hip-hop collaborative thing too). He's largely uninterested in the past, an amazingly non-introspective sort (Rhodri the keyboard player had the job of teaching him the old songs as he never listens to them), which is a shame, cos much as I love the new one and the recent hip-hop collaborations that come off really well live, I would just so love to hear more of Songs to Remember, e.g. Asylums in Jerusalem or Faithless. Also one or two of the also excellent (but generally dismissed in reviews of WBBB) ladst one, Anomie and Bonhomie, which is generally quite guitar and drums-driven and would come over well live.

Didn't know you'd got it Mike. Well done! Will have to edit the Scritti advert I've just posted on the What Are You? thread! More here have to follow suit!

Okay, have just got my ticket, and-- couldn't resist-- also got one to the Futureheads on October 28. Twelve bucks for Scritt, fifteen for Futureheads. How can I not?

Twelve! Christ! Unbelievable. Especially with current rate of exchange. What a bargain. I'm paying £18.50, plus 3 or 4 booking crap.

....and then pick one up for the Twilight Singers on 22nd October.
Geez , none of these bands are playing Dallas, seems bands play the SXSW festival and thats about it. I should be living in Boston, as close to the Paradise Club as possible.

Today I enjoyed listening to each album from start to finish immensely. It seems pointless to try to compare the respective value of each but they complement each other really well, probably better than any other three consecutively-released Bob Dylan albums.

Glad to hear that so lack. His earlier albums are worth checking out as well, especially Late Night Final and Lowedges.

Fast Man Raider Man by Frank Black. Really good record. If you liked his last one, Honeycomb, then you'll love this one as well.

Serge Gainsbourg's "Requiem Pour Un Con". Way ahead of its time.
