Well, watching and listening. The humidity is about 200% here, and my son is home sick, and there's nothing to do but sit in front of the fan enjoying Mr. Buckley Jr.
King: this catches my eye. Please describe more in what way he makes it sound good and in what way this is connected to the style of hitting. The more technical, the better! is this a judgement you can make just by listening to him, or do you need to observe it to pronounce it? Do you just mean giving it a good hard thwack, or something subtler? I can't say Ringo for me has a distinctive style of hitting it beyond the way it's produced, but maybe that's my ignorance and if you sat him down at any kit, you'd get that Ringo sound. I knew within one snare beat of Hands of Time that it was Pete at the kit without having read it. I guess it's a mixture of a trademark sound and feel combined with a familiar type of drum, way of tuning, etc.King Hoarse wrote:He certainly knew how to make a snare sound good! Definitely worth a listen - very over-the-top and daring, but also funny and smart. I can see how it might appeal to a Moz fan.Otis Westinghouse wrote:WSS: the friend I went to Moz with had recently seen Dresden Dolls live and RAVED about how good they were. Amazingly dramtatic and cabaret-ish, with a great warm-up band plus acrobats. never heard their stuff meself.
Is there anything interesting or is it one of those gentle question and answer things telling us the same things we've already read?ice nine wrote:Conversation with David Dye - Allen and Elvis talking with David.
Cash recorded four albums with Rick Rubin between 1994 and his death in 2003, with a fifth coming out posthumously this summer. But a lot more stuff was recorded than ended up being released, as evidenced by Unearthed, a five-disc box set containing four discs of previously unreleased material.oldhamer wrote:What's in that? I'm quite a fan of Cash, as I'm able to nick my Dad's CD's of his American Recordings...
It's too bad they stuck Running Scared and Black Betty (horrible) on the cd version because they're probably my least favourite covers on that album. Most of the rest are pretty good. Which do you like best? Not heard any other version of the song to compare it to but regardless I have a soft spot for Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart. I like the treatment given to Hey Joe and The Singer too.Who Shot Sam? wrote:
