It appears to me to be a 1940's National OO. National contracted w/ Gibson to produce guitars bearing the National logo for a time. I suspect this is one .
Great knowledge exhibited here, thanks to all concerned !

Elvis Costello joins The Current's Jill Riley to discuss his new record "The Boy Named If", and talks about his very first visit to Minneapolis in 1978: https://youtu.be/r5RTOoZbaqM

A bit late saying this, but it's no less true.

Jesus, I wish EC & Co. would shell out for a simple photograph of the band for an album cover. This artwork is ass!

LOL, I have to say I've never been a particular fan of Elvis's artwork, either, but I guess it's MEANT to be ugly.

I think it has worked well in recent videos, but enough is probably enough now, I reckon!

That said, with straitened circumstances these days cos no-one buys CDs, I guess its cheaper for him to do his own artwork than get someone else in!

Until watching that video today, I didn't know EC is left handed. I guess I haven't been paying attention for the past 44 years.

Its why Elvis uses a pen with a felt tip to sign autographs. ' Ball points don't work for us lefties ' , he told me when I offered him one to sign a ticket after a show.

Was he joking? I’m a leftie and I am always conscious that when I use certain types of pen I’ll smudge what I’ve written with my sleeve.

Mind you I don’t sign much these days - let alone autographs

There was nothing to lean on so maybe Elvis meant that using a ballpoint without that aid was the main challenge.

i'm old enough to recall being required to use a fountain pen, even long, tapered pens with nibs you could insert and dip in ink. and i'm a leftie. many were forced to 'switch' because of a strange, inordinate reaction to being left handed -- this would be late '50s, canada. then, when i was in my twenties, somebody told me about dexter and sinister, right and left, and the weird over reactions became both clearer and more murky all at once.

also noticed that he isn't a 'left hook' -- like me, just holds the pen in the left the way a righthanded would

Witch! Witch!

When I broke my arm at school (aged 14) I learned to write with my right hand. I can write joined up and, my amazing talent, is that I can write backwards joined up writing.

Anyway, back to the topic!
