I got my standing ticket! Yippee! I wonder how many people will slum it like me and show up early for a good spot? Considering at every EC gig I've been to I'm always stopped by an older lady who exclaims: "You're the youngest person here!" Any one know the procedure for waiting to get to the front? Is there anywhere they allow people to line up inside, or will it be outside the venue?

There is no indication there will be Larkin Poe supporting, which is a shame because their London gig I wanted to attend is sold out.

Anyway, EXCITED! :D

Tickets for seats in the balcony all sold out, standing tickets still available.

It seems a little more publicity for this show may be needed. The Roundhouse website has this to say:

"Elvis Costello and The Imposters will join us with a date in the Main Space this July.

Following his 1977 debut album, My Aim Is True, Elvis Costello and the Attractions enjoyed an unbroken run of U.K. chart success for years, placing “Red Shoes”, “Watching The Detectives, “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea”, “Pump It Up”, “Radio Radio”, “Oliver’s Army” and “Accidents Will Happen”, in the popular imagination.

Working purely as a lyricist, Costello most famously wrote the words for Clive Langer’s enduring ballad, “Shipbuilding”. He has also written a lyric for Billy Strayhorn’s “Blood Count”, entitled, “My Flame Burns Blue” and words for the music of Diana Krall, Steve Nieve, Bill Frisell, The Jazz Passengers and along with eight Charles Mingus compositions.

Since 2002, Costello has toured extensively with The Imposters; featuring bassist and vocalist, Davey Faragher together with original Attractions cohorts, Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve , with whom Costello has also toured in several two-man concert adventures.

The highlights of The Imposters career have included the recording of “The Delivery Man” in Oxford, Mississippi and “Momofuku” at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys as well as extensive touring with Allen Toussaint and the Crescent City Horns following the recording of “The River In Reverse”, the first major recording project to visit New Orleans after the disasters and destructions that followed Hurricane Katrina.

The worldwide success of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook saw the show visit a dozen countries and included a total of five performances at the Royal Albert Hall over 2012 and 2013."

Jenny & Tennessee have just released a surprise new album - maybe they'll be promoting that . Nice As Fuck is their band's name - what a pity Elvis & The Roundhouse didn't feel rock 'n roll enough to put that on the poster !

No they're not - Elvis has tweeted

Due a scheduling conflict, Nice As Fuck will not be joining Elvis Costello and the Imposters at The Roundhouse on the 6th of July. #nexttime

Unexpected events mean that I can't come to this gig after all - the inconceivable has happened: something more important than an Elvis and the Imposters gig! X

Which musical is it or are you watching the Wales v Portugal match?

Don't worry - we'll tell you all about it on 23rd.

It's the match. So torn, esp with the prospect of more new material with the Imposters, but Wales may never have a match like this again! Hope it's a fab gig x

Let's hope come Sunday they'll have a bigger match than the Portugal one.

There's room for you at the Bristol show if you want a ticket.

If not, see you on 23rd.

' Elvis Costello returns to the Roundhouse on Wednesday, marking 20 years to the day since he last performed here. '

Not true - EC & The A's played the venue twice in July 1996 , July 6th & 27th.

I remember Black Sails in the Sunset very well, so I guess that means I was at the 27th one. First time I'd heard it, great introduction. I enjoyed the roughness of the venue.

I also recall Distorted Angel with Chelsea sung over it toward the end. Worked nicely.

One thing I had totally forgotten was the Doors tribute referred to. Memory of this one is very hazy indeed. Was it something like a bit of Break On Through? Memory of it is merging with another of bits of Daddy Can I Turn This? being played as referred to in the setlist:

Anyone got a recording?

We don't seem to have decided on a venue for a pre-show meetup. For want of anywhere better, can I suggest the Lock Tavern, at 35 Chalk Farm Road, London? This is just South of the venue, but on the same road. Accessible either from Chalk Farm tube (heading 0.3 miles south past the venue) or from Camden Town tube (0.4 miles heading north).

There are decent bars in the venue itself, but once we are in, I imagine everyone will want to stake their spot near the stage rather than stand around drinking in the bars? Unless anyone has a better idea, see you at the Lock from 6pm?

Sorry you will not be there Neil. Hopefully the fact I missed Wales v Belgium and the fact I will also miss the match against Portugal will be a lucky omen.

I will try and make the Lock Tavern for 6.
