DEAR ELVIS: SOLO Tour song wish list!

Post by cwr »

I've never seen EC solo before, though I've heard tons of bootlegs from the 80s when the set lists were amazing and he would just pull out really unexpected things. I figure it might be good to have a thread where we publicly list our wishes for the upcoming shows!

MY WISHES:
-- I'd love to hear some covers of recent songs he likes by other artists! Something surprising! How amazing would it be to hear him pull out a song from the past few years by some other artist that he has admired and hear his take on it?
-- "My Dark Life" (because it's my favorite song and I've never been at a concert where he's played it)
-- anything from The Juliet Letters. I've always had this weird feeling that some of the songs on TJL would be amazing stripped down to a guitar-and-voice arrangement. "Taking My Life In Your Hands" or "Jacksons Monk & Rowe" or "The Birds Will Still Be Singing..."

I also kind of hope that this is a tour where he takes a seat and plays a bunch of songs sitting down, like he does here:

OR THIS, "DON'T BOTHER ME"

Honestly, the thought of him playing a Beatles song he's never played before is thrilling. I'd love it if he played a whole concert of just his favorite Beatles songs...

Sulky did an Elvis sings The Beatles CD which was good.

As Elvis's people look at the forum your suggestion is a good one. I was disappointed at the missed opportunity on the Centennial Tour last year.

I'd like to see In Another Room be a staple of the set.

VG! i too feel "IN ANOTHER ROOM" may just be the finest song he has written the last ten years and deserves to be played often....and the finest cover recently is surely "I HOPE"....i hope to see them both at least once in November.

I'd also agree with I hope - I wish I'd seen him play it on the UK Songbook tour.

I'd like to see him bring along (and play) a keyboard, like he did in 1984's solo tour:

14. Motel Matches - Elvis on keyboards
15. Love Field - Elvis on keyboards
24. Shipbuilding - Elvis on keyboards

He's dabbled a bit on the keyboards lately...Pump It Up in 6/8 Time, Stations Of The Cross on Fallon, but in a solo show it would be a nice change of pace.
