EC plays wedding reception in Park City, Utah, August 2012
Empire delivers Grammy Award winner, Elvis Costello as a Wedding Surprise
Park City, Utah
August 2012
When wedding planners, JOWY Productions, received the request from a bride-to-be to surprise her future husband with his favorite musician, they turned to Empire Entertainment to deliver Elvis Costello for the occasion.
Taking place outdoors, amongst the mountains of Park City, UT the intimate wedding reception called for a solo performance by the Grammy award winning, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member.
After an introduction by the bride, Elvis took to the stage, as the groom, (whose family describes at the worlds biggest Elvis Costello fan) nearly dropped to the floor. After the initial shock wore off, the groom joined his bride on the dance floor, directly in front of Elvis as he began to perform his 6-song set.
The crown sang along as he performed his hits including “(The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes,” “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding,” and “Every Day I Write the Book.” Songs that made a huge splash included the jazz classic, “Makin’ Whoopee!” and “Alison,” where Elvis changed the lyrics to include the bride’s name. Towards the end of the set, Elvis got the entire wedding party up on the dance floor as he performed an exciting version of “Pump it Up.”
Following his performance, Elvis participated in an intimate meet & greet with the bride, groom, and their immediate family. Elvis also signed their wedding guest book, as well as a drum skin for the groom, who drums along to the Elvis Costello classics at home.
Empire was responsible for negotiating, contracting and arranging travel and accommodations for Elvis Costello, as well as working with the wedding planner to coordinate all schedules, logistical and technical aspects of his performance, while keeping the performance a secret.
Empire Entertainment is a leading producer of private and corporate events in the U.S. and around the world.
A photo of the groom's reaction can be seen here: http://jowyproductions.com/blog/2012/9/ ... tello.html

Two words meaning respectively 'good fortune' and 'born out of wedlock' immediately spring to mind. If the groom has been to100 EC shows I'm guessing he's been on this board at some point. Own up, who is it! Chapter and verse please...

Available for bar mitzvahs as well? Neighborhood block parties? I have an important anniversary date coming up. Wonder if he would work for 'scale'? Continues to make me speculate as to how strong a financial hit he took from that ponzi scheme several years ago.

Start saving anyway, Chris. Even if you don't book EC, the extra cash can go towards the dress(es)!

I love the fact that we feel the same way about using every trick we can to make sure we get a recording ! I've hidden microphones and recorders down pairs of football (soccer) socks, spare batteries inside tiny holes in jacket pockets and special buttonholes in lapels to hold clip-on mikes ! My favourite incident was being made to go through a metal detector 3 times at Barrowlands in Glasgow with my minidisc tucked inside my ("Beatle") boots and finally convincing the bouncer that the keyhole surgery scar I had was actually my pacemaker which was metal !
The things we do to produce ROIO !

He seemed to miss a golden opportunity to dust off the bright and sunny wedding-themed songs in his catalog like "Harry Worth," "The Long Honeymoon," and "Imperial Bedroom." Set that couple off on the right note!
Actually wouldn't be a bad Spinning Songbook jackpot.

If ever there was a setlist that didn't make me curse my misfortune at not having access to a recording, this could very well be it.krm wrote:I did not find any link to a recording....johnfoyle wrote:All the details you could ever want about this wedding -

Who wouldn't think they had hit the jackpot if these three were dedicated to you?The Gentleman wrote:He seemed to miss a golden opportunity to dust off the bright and sunny wedding-themed songs in his catalog like "Harry Worth," "The Long Honeymoon," and "Imperial Bedroom." So how about a Love and Marriage section on the wheel Elvis?
You could add 15 Petals in case you got stuck!
Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo?
