One has always preferred analogue, despite digital being often cheap/convenient. Because it is not easy to buy new recordings on vinyl for my LP12, I usually buy CD for little Naim/lovely Marantz etc CDPs. I know for a fact that analogue is better, because often when I play e.g. a Paul Simon CD, my wife says 'where's such-and-such' a sound gone. I bung on the equivalent black disc, and she/analogue are right.

Totally unconnected, I prefer '2'.

If anything is a rarity/a one-timer, I am perfectly happy and privileged to hear it any which way ... e.g. any version of 2011-07-28 Portland 'Promised land' would be appreciated.

I - like most - am grateful to sterling/dollar work many do recording/sharing what we cannot buy.

I think we should have a comparison test with each device using external mics.

Funny you should mention that. I finally got my Church Audio cardioid mics back from Canada and will no longer use the internal mics on my digital recorder. West Virginia's a little too far, so it may have to wait until 2012 for my next EC bootleg.

I agree to that! The quality of the recordings provided here is so good compared to my first traded tapes in very early eighties. I am so happy for any recording that surfaces to give me an opportunity to enjoy this great music. Thanks - all those who know who you are!!!
