Just a note to let everyone know that we are having thunderstorms. The power has just come back after being off for a couple of hours.
No conspiracy -- just an act of God.

You folks are very fast!!
Yes we lost power as a side-effect of Katrina. It was off when we woke up this morning about 4:30am and just came back on about 5:30pm. Even as far inland as Huntsville is *~350 miles from Mobile), we have 50+ mph winds overnight and 15-20 mph wind all day. Our yard is littered with branches, leaves and shredded debris. Spooky will have to post pictures.
I just heard a report that Huntsville still has 10,000 people without power. There are 800 streets with reported outages. At one point over 40 feeder circuits into the city were down. They were hoping everyone would have power by Friday.
Overall it is bad but nothing to compare with the gulf coast. That area is utterly devasted.
