rock and roll truths

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

You've got a Methodist coloring book
And you color really well
But don't color outside the lines
Or God will send you to Hell
'Cause God hates war
And God hates crime
a' but he really hates people
Who color outside the lines

(while we're on the subject of dumb metal, here's a little Helloween:)

Heavy metal is the law that keeps us all united and free
A law that shatters Earth and Hell
Heavy metal can't be beaten by any dynasty
We're all wizards fighting with a spell
What this world needs is more silly men.

I forgot, I just had to share this. This is a rock'n'roll fantasy rather than truth, but still...

A couple of years ago I happened upon a weird talent show in an old castle with everything from surreal poetry through fire eating to the metal band of (Swedish) ten year olds, Dragon's Fire. They didn't let their limited vocabulary or musicality stand in the way of their creativity. They had first taken up their instruments two months prior to the show and then penned and rehearsed the conceptual cycle of ten songs that bore their name, telling the story of a village on the edge of a volcano that hosted an evil dragon which awoke from its slumber to attack them every few years, until a knight in shining armor happened along and hi ho the dragon lay slain. The opener and title track set the scene with its memorable chorus (I only heard it that night five years ago, but repeated four times):

Am C
Dragon's fire burn
F E7
People to Hell
Am C
Fly up in the sky
F E7
It's the tale I tell
Am C
Then comes the hero
F E7
He fight in many wars
Am C
Ride on a stallion
F E7
As white as any horse

(the chorus of another song:
In my brain it's so dark
Light it up with a spark
Mother, sorry for my fails
Dark Tales!)
What this world needs is more silly men.

Alienated freaks forming a band of sorts to tour...very rock'n'roll. If you don't trust the Ramones, ask Tom Waits.

Yes, correct..... the Ramones, from the song "Pinhead"....starts out with the boys in the band chanting the lines from "Freaks", ends with "Gabba Gabba Hey" (with a "Zippy the Pinhead" costumed "freak" carrying a "gabba gabba hey" sign, in live performances) ... Gabba Gabba we accept you, we accept you, one of us ;)
