What's your favorite music video?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

What's your favorite music video?

Post by Marxbro »

Mine is the Foo Fighters' video for the song Everlong. That song rocks plus the video is a funny spoof of the Evil Dead movies.

I also like the American Woman video from Lenny Kravitz, mostly because i'm madly in love with Heather Graham.

Mylène Farmer - L'Âme-Stram-Gram
Beautiful stuff. Cinematic bliss. And probably with a Mel-style-epic budget, too. It's nearly 8 minutes long, and I don't care that much for most of her music, but her videos tend to be amazing.

Most of The Cure videos are excellent, especially those directed by Tim Pope. They're weird, funny and intelligent at the same time. It's too difficult to choose just one, but I'll only give a few examples: "Close To Me", "Just Like Heaven", "Hot Hot Hot !!!", "Why Can't I Be You", "Lullaby" and "Never Enough".

By the way, the same Tim Pope directed videos for Siouxsie and the Banshees, Soft Cell, Talk Talk, The The as well as Otis' favourite David Bowie song "Time Will Crawl".

Peter Gabriel has done some really good videos. He shows what you can do with the medium if you really care about it. All of EC's videos have been throwaways. It's obvious he's not really into it.

My pick would have to be Genesis' Land Of Confusion video. Spitting image rocks :P.

Weezer's "Gone Fishing" (with the Muppets) which I've only seen once

The Pixies "Velouria" (possibly the cheapest ever)
What this world needs is more silly men.

Bastards of Young - The Replacements. It's a black and white shot of a cheap stereo speaker which the song is coming through. It never changes.

Blur - Coffee & TV
David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes (a little dated, but cool anyway)
David Bowie - I'm Afraid Of Americans
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Weezer - Buddy Holly
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Right now, mine is "Drop It Like It's Hot," by Snoop Dogg. Great song, and I like all the sexy girls clacking their tongues.

I'm not a giant Bjork fan, but she has some incredible videos. Bachelorette is pretty mind bending, think it was done by Michel gondry which makes absolute sense.

"Praise You" - Fatboy Slim.

Genius on so many levels, none of them related to the song.

Gotta go with I Wanna Be Loved.

With Bastards of Young a distant second.

And Neil Young's "Im Wonderin" is great also.

W/out a doubt it's the Foo Fighters All My Life video. Never seen anything so awesome.

Honorable mention:

Herbie Hancock's Rockit is so, so cool. Has always been a favorite.

Also like Devo's Satisfaction and

Nine Inch Nail's I Want to **ck You Like an Animal-such a strange but utterly appealing visual.

And I have to say, I've always kind of liked Van Halen's Hot For Teacher.
I'm not angry anymore....
