Rilo Kiley/Elvis

Post by johnfoyle »

The Elvis/Rilo Kiley love-in continues. Their album , More Adventurous , has just been released in the U.K. and Uncut (Feb.05) has a short interview with their 4 star review , including this -

UNCUT: Elvis Costello has long
championed you. Has it made a difference?

Jenny Lewis: A huge difference. He called when we’d
finished the new lp, saying how much he loved it. It
was a jaw-dropping moment, like a Rupert Pupkin
fantasy sequence from King Of Comedy . Hopefully I’m
less creepy than Rupert.

By the way , the same issue of Uncut has it's editor , Allan Jones , using his tiresome 'Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before' column to rehash a 1982 Melody Maker interview he did with Nick Lowe. Besides descriptions of Nick chopping out lines of cocaine he quotes extensively from Lowe's account of Elvis the Brinsley's fan , Elvis at the Stiff office in '77 , Nick crying when he first heard Alison etc. etc. The
some old , same old , in other words.

That back page of Uncut is always an unpleasant experience and half the time involves some member of the Stiff fraternity doing drugs with Allan Jones. I used to like Uncut, but it's getting awful samey...
