I hate to start a thread like this but I have to. Now that we have a complete computer dedicated to the Board, I am able to analyze the logs. We are getting a high number of probes from a handful of infected PCs. I have blocked these IP addresses from accessing this computer. This is
NOT an editorial decision, it is a technical one. The probing IP addresses I have looked into appear to have been infected by at least one of the following:
The blocked IP addresses do not appear to be board members but I will list them for future references:
- host-78-42-230-24.midco.net
- c-24-15-82-48.client.comcast.net
- user-24-214-198-163.knology.net
If you ever believe you have a virus problem, I am happy to help you. Everyone with a high-speed internet connection should have a hardware firewall /router (USD25 - USD75) These machines are infected by a virus that is now about 4 years old so there is no real excuse for the negligence. We all have to be good citizens on the net.
