You should but only if you throw a pair of your knickers my way as well.

Dear El Vez,

I come from the land that gave the world Men At Work, The Newsboys, The Crocodile Hunter, Paul Hogan, Rolf Harris, Fosters Beer, the wine cask, and the Hills Hoist.

I don't have the faintest idea as to how I can even begin to make reparations for these grave injustices... any suggestions?

In all fairness, you've also given us George Miller, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and the greatest film ever made about a giant killer boar, Razorback. Still.....there is that Paul Hogan thing.

There has been much coveting of your dvd collection among board members. I'll just leave that one out there for you to ponder......

You are too kind sir... however, I must allow the New Zealanders their claim to Russell Crowe. Also, the reason I did not include Mel Gibson in my list was that I have officially handed him back to his country of birth (no returns) ;)

I agree... made by the great music video specialist Russell Mulcahy who also gave the world (among other things) Swimming Upstream, Highlander (the original and best), Derek and Clive Get the Horn, and a number of Duran Duran clips.

dear el vez,

my last 2 entries on the tower of song have been removed by the very next poster--where is the love? by donnie and roberta and synchronicity II by the police which bobster (he's from california) apparently mistook for something to do with the lance armstrong/sheryl crow thing. do you think the board would greet the great jim stafford classic "16 little red noses and a horse that sweats" favorably or should i bother?
I'm not concerned about the very poor.

Have you considered submitting a Mission To Burma or Pet Shop Boys song?

Where is the love? I think she's in rehab although it's hard to keep up with her comings and goings.

Someone thinks "I Don't Understand" is a good song? Wow, I'm flattered!

Thanks El Vez, it's just that everything's so tedious that I can't be arsed with it most of the time.

In reference to Jon Bon Jovi, I assume he was the "tedious git" in question, I am afraid that my 1980's upbringing prohibits me from answering that .

Is it wrong to like a band with a name llike GWAR?

GWAR puts on an incredibly entertaining live show. There will always be a place in music for that kind of over-the-top theatricality. Sort of like a more profane, if less accomplished, version of what acts such as Man Or Astroman? and Southern Culture On The Skids are out there doing. Fun stuff.

here el vez, be my personal ann landers (except not dead, you know):

i have a friend who i like, who i don't know terribly well, but who i believe is a good person. some of my friends dislike her. she's a student and works full time, but never has enough money.

when we go out, she invariably asks me to pay for her. it's starting to get old.

how do i deal with this in the future? do i stop inviting her to things? do i tell her, don't come unless you can pay your own way? i know she's poor, she really is, but i don't want to have her needs spoil my fun, which is what it's threatening to do. i can afford better stuff than she can, and when i suggest places for a group to go to, they're nice rather than being cheap student dives.

suggestions?

tks el vez. you're a peach. :)

Poppet,

If you have any guy friends who are single.....you might want to start introducing her to them. That should take her off your hands.

If I could just take us back two pages, there are many TW's. How about getting into the softer, melodic one, as witnessed on two classic tracks, Cold, Cold Ground (Frank's Wild Years and Big Time), or Hang Down Your Head (Rain Dogs).
