Tempted to do this. Also, no booking fee for members. Any idea how much that saves?

No idea, I'm afraid. I'm an Aussie, so I wouldn't have a clue about UK booking fees.

Snagged a ticket in the second row, dead center. And got exactly the same position for Richard Thompson's 1000 Years of Popular Music on the Saturday.

I will be there with Verbal -though once again he'll probably just sit and sulk because I wasn't quick enough to get front row seats like he has for us at Oxford !!

As it turns out I'll be in striking distance of the UK the week previous to this - so with the kind permission of Wife With A Problem - I just bought myself a ticket. Looking forward to meeting up with Verbal and Sulky Lad and maybe So Lacklustre and whoever else can make it!

I'm in the doghouse at work as the week before the Costello jaunt across the UK, the new University hospital in Birmingham opens and I was expected to be gallivanting around the new place losing scientists and apparatus at a rate of knots but instead I'll be at Meltdown !!!

I know it's probably nothing, but in The Sunday Times Culture magazine yesterday, there were two adverts. One for the forthcoming Elvis tour and one for the Meltdown festival. Neither of them mention the Elvis show. I know I've seen the Meltdown ad with the Elvis date on it.

It's still listed on the Meltown website, so I wouldn't have any fears about it going ahead.

Maybe it's time to start thinking about organizing a meet up before the show. One of the old standby's is the Coal Hole on the Strand. Who's In?

I is going innit.

Somewhere a bit nearer would be better imo. They have bars at the venue, or The Hole In The Wall pub in Mepham Street is close - but I have never been in it.

Here's a link to the article in last weekend's Observer :

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/ma ... n-festival

Which contains this snippet about our man :
Elvis Costello, Royal Festival Hall, 20 June

"One of the great artists of the last 30 years. Fantastic to have him coming along and of course he's a previous curator of Meltdown Festival, which is nice."

Hi Sheeptothe...

You mentioned an ad in the paper for the Elvis tour - I know it's geeky, but what was the imagery used? Pomp & Pout tour? Is this to coincide with the new Best Of? Just curious! Scan, anyone?

Commitment or what!
