Les Paul

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

RIP

LP was the late great Danny Gatton's hero. Check the end (6.55) of this youtube for some insights on LP's playing style.

Anyone who loves rock&roll, likes the electric guitar, plays the electric guitar or electric jazz guitar or appreciates a good combo should feel deeply saddened today- Les Paul chiefly helped to make this all possible-my brother -in -law, who is an accomplished, working jazz guitarist, always tells me that he learned to play from two sources-Les Paul and Wes Montgomery-we all owe a debt to this man-in an earlier thread on this site it was noted the connection between Bing Crosby and EC-well in a six degrees extension-Les Paul first came to fame in the 30's playing jazz guitar for Bing- that is how important he is to modern music-he bridges so many generations and styles-I will always listen to the beautiful, lively work he did with Mary Ford-they are such accomplished jazz records.
