Re: Random Thoughts
Finally, a presidential candidate I can relate to...
On Saturday night, Obama will face a challenge familiar to many American parents: Eight 7-year-olds are due at his house for a birthday sleepover in honor of his daughter, Sasha.
"These kids are planning to make pizza so who knows what our kitchen will look like," Obama said. "They shouldn't call these sleepovers. They should call them wake-overs."

A quote I've said myself several times. Good bloke, a real human. Cabn't wait till he's president. The world is gonna love the US for voting him in.

Re: Random Thoughts
Well, I wished you graduation happiness on Facebook, StrictTime, but not here. So I'll do it again.
And caps and gowns. Sounds like a good idea until you get one on. The best time I think I've ever seen anyone have while wearing a cap and gown was Doc when he got his PhD. He got that cool "hooding" ceremony where his advisor helped put the hooded drape over his head on stage in front of everyone. But it was hot as hell in May in an auditorium and all he wanted to do was get his picture made and get it off.
And Pole, I can't say for certain, but I don't *think* Greece is going anywhere. But don't blame me if it floats away before you visit there.

Thanks everyone! Caps and gowns were so hot... But now we have a full blown heat wave here. I can't go anywhere, since I walk everywhere.

Re: Random Thoughts
Anyone see that god-awful eSurance commercial they've been running on Comedy Central during the Daily Show? Man it is terrible. And it's played at about twice the volume of everything else. Watch it if you dare! Really the ad man should be shot.

Re: Random Thoughts
eSurance is bad, but the most hated commercials of my life are the Pennsylvania lottery ones. There's a highly annoying puppet groundhog trying to sell me scratch and wins all. the. time. Of course, I can't find a video, but anyone in PA, or maybe even the tri-state area (I sometimes get commercials from NJ) will know what I'm talking about. In lieu of a video, here's a picture:
GAH! I hate it so much! And it's got this annoying voice, and touts itself as the "2nd most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania." Very few things get under my skin, but this one pretty much infuriates me. Besides the fact that Camel can't use a cartoon camel to sell cigarettes, while the lotto can use this thing that probably appeals to children similarly. /end rant.

Re: Random Thoughts
It was our 5th wedding anniversary yesterday. Time has really flown.
And this time 5 years ago we were looking forward to our honeymoon across Canada and our Alaskan cruise.
The funny thing about all this is that it's made me realise that I've known a lot of you for over 5 years, have met up with some of you, have made some great friendships with people I've never physically met and received CDs and DVDs from people I've never met either.
Thanks all.

Re: Random Thoughts
Desperate for entertainment, I watched Britain's Worst Teeth on BBC America last night. Stomach-turning. I find it funny that the BBC would export a program like this, that plays into a British stereotype.

Re: Random Thoughts
Somewhere along the way I have ended up on an email list for the Grand Ole Opry. Look at the mixed bag of stuff coming up - what an assortment.
This Weekend at the Opry
Join us at the Opry this weekend to see performances by Vince Gill, Gatlin Brothers, Point of Grace, Kim Richey, Gene Watson, Hal Ketchum, Riders In The Sky, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Restless Heart, The Whites and many more!
Just can't imagine Riders in the Sky and The Whites in the same evening. . . .

Re: Random Thoughts
Can people join me in a no-rain-for-Toronto dance? The Relay For Life is tomorrow night - 7pm through 7am Saturday morning. Last year it was cold and had a pretty low turnout. This year the forecast shows a chilly low of 10°C/50°F along with a 40-60% chance of rain. I'm starting to worry that no one is going to show, and as the Teams Chair, it's my job to make sure people show.
I'm getting worried...

I hope it warms/clears/draws gazillions! They are moving our local one up to the first weekend in May (from 1st in June) because of the heat.

I'm sure everything will be fine Red.
Good luck. And anyway, you don't want the weather to be too hot if you are running.
And what's a little rain between friends...?

My father died on Father's Day. How ironic is that?
