Anemia
I am lecturing today on Blood Transfusion management to a group of surgeons, intensivists, and anesthesiologists. A core concept is 'anemia', a condition where the blood does not contain enough capacity to carry oxygen to the tissues. Severe anemia = death. Moderate = brain damage etc.
Elvis has used the word anemia and anemic in a song or two or three, but as I prepare I can hear him use the term, but I can't pinpoint to melody or song, and it is driving me craxy.
I would like to quote Elvis in the lecture with the use of the word anemia. "Blood" is too easy...
Can you help?

Re: Anemia
Can't think of a single EC song with the word "anemia" in it. Are you sure you're not thinking of "100% Amnesia"?

This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Re: Anemia
I think he used it in one of the first three recordings, but I can't pinpoint it. Thanks WSS, I cleared that song but I swear he rhymed it with something and I recall, as a physiologist, it was cool. Later, that line would be upstaged by "Live" from "Throwing Copper" (from Scranton, near Dunder-Mifflin Paper Products), when they sang "The Placenta falls to the floor"
You gotta love a band that uses the word "placenta" in a rock song.

There was also that half-baked version, 50% Amnesia, which I think was an outtake from WIWC.

Re: Anemia
I can't help you with that, Mr. A, but I do have borderline anemia! Sometimes they won't let me give blood, and my boss is always telling me I look too pale, but I think that's just because I wear SPF on my face every day. I'm sure this little tidbit will be fascinating to your audience...

Re: Anemia
Whatever you do, try to build your hemoglobin with iron supplementation and herbal alternatives. Avoid transfusions at all cost. Blood transfusions are harmful, and the growing evidence base is incontrovertable: transfused blood is an organ transplant and the attendant risks far outweight the gains. So supplement and build your base to thwart iron-deficient anemia. You don't want blood. It ain't what we used to think it was...

Re: Anemia
My wife currently has the opposite problem - a surfeit of iron in her blood. The doctor has encouraged her to give more regularly, which should help matters.

Be sure to take iron with vitamin C to increase absorption!
