Your Top 25 Albums of the '00s (and Top 10 of 2009)

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Your Top 25 Albums of the '00s (and Top 10 of 2009)

Post by Who Shot Sam? »

I haven't seen our usual lists yet this year, so I thought I would kick it off. Since we are coming to the close of the '00s, I thought it might also be interesting to see everyone's list of their favorite albums of the decade (let's limit it to 25, plus 5 honorable mentions). I am not going to attempt to do these in order of preference:

Totally amazed, given your fan status, at the absence of Truelove's Gutter from this year's 10, which would be 1 in a rather lean year for me (none of my big heroes, other than, of course, Elvis, and I barely managed to play that one twice). I think it's grown on me to a point where I'd take it over Cole's, just beautiful and moving from start to finish. Can I interest you in a revision of the 10?

Maybe I'm a bit Hawley'ed out, but it didn't appeal to me in the same way his earlier stuff did. I should probably revisit it. I got the album at a time when I was feeling totally overwhelmed by work and other personal stuff, so maybe I just didn't pay enough attention.

On my list at least 2005 stands out as en exceptional year for new music.

"The Huston Kid" is a solid, sound record. A favorite of mine. Some very intelligent, and I think honest, writing on that record.
