I wonder if "Maud" was inspired by Alfred, Lord Tennyson's 1855 Victorian-age poem? In its day, people were shocked by the "morbidity and hysteria" of it. Tennyson's Maud leads the narrator's father into bankruptcy and ultimately suicide. I suppose we'll know . . . if there is a lyrical reference to a "daffodil sky."

'Maud Gone Wrong' is bugging me now. Only because it's not listed for the LP, and my OCD is asking me 'what is it? Where is it?' Potential B-side for whichever single (from the LP) is released next Friday? Or is EC already lining up bonus tracks for 'Hey Clockface' in the style of the 'Look Again'/'Purse' EPs?

Bear mind is this is coming from someone who thinks 'Isabelle in Tears' is hands-down the best thing to come out of the 'Look Now' sessions. :D

Sorry for not noticing this sooner.

Maybe Maud Gone is a reference to Maud Gonne , 1866 -1953.
A fascinating character. English but very involved with the foundation of independent Ireland from the 1900s onwards. British intelligence gave her the nickname 'Maud Gone Mad'.
W.B. Yeats supposedly proposed marriage to her four times.

Are there any updates here? I'm curious about the new songs from the recent tour.

There have been some minor updates like "Silver Minute" being added, but I can't find any of the new songs.

A quick trawl of ASCAP still shows no sign of the new songs (e.g. Tipsy Woman, I Don't Want Your Lyndon Johnson, Like Licorice On Your Tongue) from the recent tours, but the unreleased songs listed below are credited to Elvis Costello.

I have excluded songs known to be part of "A Face In The Crowd". Some of the songs below were registered as long ago as 2011 (as posts earlier in this thread show) but have yet to be released or performed live (as far as we know). There are a couple of new songs that are part of the score for the new play "Cold War" based on the film of the same name. There is a song co-written with Burt Bachararch that was not included on "The Songs Of Bacharach and Costello" oddly.

Am I Laying Tinder At My Own Stake?

April In Orbit

Don’t Put Me On

He Taught Me To Lie (from Cold War)

How Could You Know?

I Love You Too Much

I‘ve Always Had Men (with Burt Bacharach)

Jolly Grim Repo

Mister To You

Modern Nature

Moon Is High

She Don’t Want To Go Home

Spiteful Dancer

Teddy Grace - connects to "Stella Hurt".

The Silent Child (from Cold War)

The Uncrowned King

Can anyone throw any light on any of the above?

MOOT

"Moon Is High" is from the Nashville TV series.

"She Don't Want To Go Home" may be a mistitling of "I Don't Want To Go Home."

"How Could You Know?" is a lyric from "The Whirlwind."
