George Stroumboulopoulos is taking his "Hour" to the West coast.

From Monday to Thursday next week, Stroumboulopoulos will air live from The Roundhouse in Yaletown, Vancouver. Rocker Matt Good, former-Miss Canada Nazanin Afshin-Jam, and wildlife painter Robert Bateman are among the guests who will chat with him on these special dates.

Stroumboulopoulos will follow up his trip to the West with a Holiday Musical Special, airing Christmas Eve. Paul Potts (winner of "Britain's Got Talent"), Jully Black, crooner George Canyon, Diana Krall and Elvis Costello will all perform their unique versions of seasonal tunes. More fantastic guests are yet to be confirmed.

The Hour airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on CBC Television, 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBC Newsworld.

Would it be too much to expect Elvis to wear a Christmas sweater, Andy Williams-style?

Or maybe this fetching number...

Yeah, it probably would.

Oh gosh. It was imminent. Just.....gosh. A Christmas special. I've lost all faith in everything.

....okay perhaps not, but a Christmas special....you know, I think it'd be better if he wore a sweater. Like Rudolph with the lighted nose or the lovely ones showcased. Actually, I really wish he does.
Why don't you write about it in your blag?

Oi vay, these are the type of photos you want to burn! Man, if you look back at 60s or 70s photos (of any kind), you can sort of say, well, I guess that outfit could pass for a look today. The 80s, forget about it - hair, clothes - hideous. What were some of us thinking! Check out the shoes, though - I see the hint of yellow matches the coat... NICE.

I don't think Elvis wears any combination of clothes without the silver boots. He even wears them in bed (probably  )

I'd love to see this program. I wonder what song(s) he'll do and if he'll do one with the missus.

When is this episode going to be aired? I'll set up the DVR to record it and if I can figure out how, I'd be happy to capture it onto my computer for whoever wants to see it.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Costello, Krall go solo
Musical spouses set to perform -- separately -- on Strombo special
By BILL HARRIS

Elvis Costello must be going through one of his rock-'n'-roll phases.

Or perhaps, to butcher a cliche, the couple that stays together plays separately.

Anyway, both Elvis Costello and his wife, Canadian Diana Krall, will perform during the Holiday Music Special on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos, which airs Christmas Eve on CBC.

Costello, who has embraced everything from punk to power-pop to country to classical throughout his lengthy musical career, and Krall, a well-known jazz singer and pianist, don't perform together, unfortunately. They could have rearranged the words to a couple of their signature songs and come up with something like What's So Funny 'Bout The Look of Love, Peace and Understanding.

We guess Costello just wasn't in the right stylistic mood.

But individually, Costello tackles Winter Song, while Krall croons her way through Jingle Bells.

Costello and Krall taped their segments in Vancouver last weekend.

Costello tackles Winter Song,
Google tells me of a Joni Mitchell song with that title - or is there some other 'seasonal tune' that old 'Bah Humbug' me has missed?

Joni Mitchell sounds right. I mean, it's not like Elvis is ever going to be doing "The Litttle Drummer Boy" or "Frosty The Snowman" or something.

Pa rum pum pum pum humbug.

Then again our Dec could be his usual contrary self and treat us to a lyrical interpretation of the fine tune with the same name by John Tesh.

She might sing it as Bart Simpson would:

"Jingle bells
Batman smells
Robin laid an egg
Batmobile broke its wheels
Joker got away"

Or maybe not.

And he's not wearing the silver boots.

It just goes to show that Elvis does read the Board and take note of what we say

There is a Lindisfarne song called Winter Song - do you think it could be that one?
