EC Reissues latest

Post by martinfoyle »

Here's the latest from
http://www.musictap.net/index.html

-We have some news for you. The bad part is bumps. The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots DVD-Audio is being moved to August 12 while the Fleetwood Mac and Elvis Costello remasters are delayed until September 9. The Fleetwood Mac issues are Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk while the Costello titles are Punch The Clock, Get Happy, and Trust. The Costello titles are 2CD Deluxe Editions. I'm so looking forward to these titles.

i'm glad i decided to steal Get Happy off the internet - it's not fair being made to wait yeeaaaaars to hear an album. ok, well, one year. but still! none of the used records shops 'round my way have it. so, here i am, not feeling guilty, because i know i'll fork over 18 bucks to tower records when it finally comes out. i did the same thing for Brutal Youth. so FEH.

I am, inexplicably, taking this latest delay as a personal affront.

My copy of Get Happy!! was destroyed during The Unfortunate Parenting Incident of 1997, which was a long time ago, so you maybe have an inkling of why I am so desperate.

Thievery is starting to sound like a reasonable course of action.

I'd like to hear more about this Unfortunate Parenting Incident - I've had a few of those myself. :?

I've been stocking up on the reissues, but fortunately still have the albums and cd's from the original versions. Still, I do love his liner notes in the reissues. Makes me hungry for more. More, dammit, more!!! :P

If you can wait until after the very first day they're released, and I know it's difficult, http://www.buy.com usually has very good deals. I recently got reissues of Imperial Bedroom, This Year's Model and My Aim is True, all for $13.99 from them.

Okay, DrJ, I suppose here goes the rest of this month's grocery money for you.

My excuse is that July 29th is my birthday... happy birthday to me. Maybe I should start stealing patient's jewelery too...

And I've just bought another cd today, albeit it was Sandanista! for a tenner... which seems like a bargain...

Okay, hope this doesn't sound incredibly stupid (that would be a switch)...but are CD's bought from the UK able to be played on US stereo's? I know VHS and DVD's have a different "region" and I can't buy the West Wing DVD's cuz of it...
A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a fuckin' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on.

Cd's are not regionalised, i.e. UK ones can be played on US players, and vice-versa. Great deals to be got through amazon US at the moment while the Euro stays so strong.

For you Euro-users, I also recommend http://www.deeddiscountdvd.com and http://www.deepdiscountcd.com. If they have it in stock, it's a great price.

I wonder if the UK reissues are really coming out in July? In America, RHINO has pushed them back to September. I would like to think that RHINO has better business sense than to lose sales to imports two months early. As avid as EC collectors are, we will not wait. I'll be importing them ASAP to hear those new bonuses, not to mention the bound-to-be-glorious Bill Inglot remastering of the immortal GET HAPPY!!

In theory, those board members living in Sydney and Tokyo should be the first to get their hands on these reissues.

Let's see who can be the first to get their photos uploaded onto the board holding ALL THREE REISSUES (not necessarily paid for). The winner gets to be a smug git for a week. And no cheating - the 2CD set has to be clearly visible as such.

My bet is that Norman Brain wins it, being "in the biz" like he is - welcome back Brother Norman.
