U.S. East Coast Shows Follow Ten Sold-Out Nights at NYC’s Gramercy Theatre

The day after he completes a ten-night run at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre, Elvis Costello will reunite with his band The Imposters to bring “The Boy Named If & Other Favourites” show on the road for the last time in the U.S.A. with 11 concerts up and down the East Coast.

For his Gramercy shows — “100 Songs and More” — Costello will perform a completely different set each night, the first five nights solo and the following nights with his longtime pianist Steve Nieve, ultimately playing more than 200 different songs picked from his vast 600+ song catalog and other favorites.

The Imposters – Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher – will once again be joined on the road by guitarist Charlie Sexton. As he recalls in The Boy Named If (Alive at Memphis Magnetic) liner notes, Costello first recruited Sexton in Summer 2021 to temporarily deputize for Steve Nieve, when his “Letters Of Transit” from France failed to materialize. The band liked the results so much that they agreed to proceed as a quintet when Nieve rejoined them. One early review of the new lineup in the OC Register wrote that “over the course of 26 songs and nearly two-and-a-half hours, Elvis Costello and the Imposters delivered a terrific night that time-traveled across Costello’s songbook, past, present, and future.”

Tickets go on sale Friday November 18th at 10:00am Eastern. Go to elviscostello.com. See full tour dates below.

The Boy Named If was released by EMI in the U.K. (and The Rest Of The World) and Capitol Records in the U.S and Canada, on January 14th to rave reviews from the New York Times to Pitchfork. The Sunday Times in London made the album “The Record Of The Week”, declaring the record, “Worthy Of Bowie.” It was followed in June by The Resurrection of Rust, Costello’s reunion with teenage bandmate Allan Mayes that saw their band, Rusty, play The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, 50 years after last singing together in the Liverpool clubs.

I received an email, but it’s not including the presale code like it normally does? Anyone?

Has anyone seen a show at Wind Creek in Bethlehem? I think it's a casino show, but not sure.

Yes, it used to be called Sands Bethlehem. He played there in 2019, I believe. It is a casino.

Maybe I do, I live in NJ! But I'll probably do Montclair and Port Chester, since Atlantic City will be a casino show, and his AC shows always seemed to get cancelled anyway!

I only recall one cancelation about 5 summers ago. Saw 6 of 7 over the years...usually very good shows there indeed. See you somewhere NP I know. Lol

I've had at least a couple cancellations there. And Diana Krall cancelled too in AC when I was going to see her! But the two EC shows at Caesars Circus Maximus theater were both very good, agreed.

Looks like no code is necessary for the presale, though the available inventory is on the pricier side, particularly for those of us making the trek to the Gramercy.

Looks like I'm doing 13 shows in a row in February. Here's hoping to 3 more front row seats as the presale doesn't show you what you get right away.

There are "presale on now" buttons for all 11 dates here. Tour.Elviscostello.Com

No suggestion that a code is necessary, but "Alison" has been suggested for one venue.

Good luck.

Thanks for that. It seems like casino shows are usually shorter than regular shows. I opted for the Wellmont. Although maybe I'll see both

As was the VH1 Fiona, Billie Joe show and the first ever BORGATA with THE PICK UPS + Steve. NYE HOB was okay and FIRST IB TOUR SHOW 2016 was a little rough. But...the only cancellation I recall is BORGATA maybe ten years ago. Or am I forgetting.one?

There were TWO Borgata cancellations, and I had tickets for both!

I forgot about the VH1 show at the Taj Mahal, I was there for that one as well. I remember being so pissed at my then-girlfriend for almost making us late to the show, she took forever to get ready to leave and I had to rush down there from Manhattan in traffic. Still don't know how we made it.

Got one for the Portsmouth, NH show. Easy process through their website as opposed to TM. Lots of warnings when selecting seats about various obstructions- I've been to this venue before, and while it's been a few years, I don't recall any huge issues with visibility.

Looks like the Beverly, MA show sold out pretty quickly, which makes sense as it's 45 minutes from Boston and he typically plays significantly bigger rooms. Looks like there are some decent seats available for the Worcester, MA show as well- a more typical venue for EC, size-wise, but still pretty intimate.

FYI, based on the latest email it looks like they changed the Wellmont Theater show in Montclair to the Count Basie in Red Bank. Much closer, so good for me!

Something weird is going on with that date. I got tickets for the Wellmont, but I did see that on the email. Maybe they were negotiating with both venues? Yeah, the Count Basie is a much nicer theater, but I think the show will be played in Montclair.

Looks like you're right, it is not listed on the Count Basie event calendar.

The show is definitely at the Wellmont and not Count Basie. The very first presale email mistakenly listed Count Basie but the presale linked to Wellmont. EC's site obviously got its wires crossed on this and conflated two Jersey venues. In fact, my ticket confirmation for Wellmont lists the Count Basie's website as the venue website. Just an oopsie.
