Fito Páez and Elvis Costello sang together in New York "I come to offer my heart"
October 10, 2022

After his successful series of presentations in Buenos Aires, Fito Páez went on a tour of the United States as part of the celebration for the 30th anniversary of his album "Love After Love." In the presentation that he fulfilled this Sunday at the iconic Radio City theater in New York, the musician and singer from Rosario had a luxury guest.

Páez did not hide his happiness at the moment he is experiencing with all this tour, and decided to post on his Instagram profile: "Great epic finale with @elviscostello at the emblematic Radio City NYC and the great @cokydebernardi". It is that Páez and Costello closed the night singing a duet "I come to offer my heart".

Actually, the set that was given at the end of Páez's show when the man from Rosario invited the Londoner to sing at full steam "Radio, radio" (Costello's classic that Páez had already performed with The Imposter last August, in Los Angels). In other words, what happened yesterday in "The Big Apple" could be considered a kind retribution.

But the biggest surprise for the audience that filled Radio City came when Paéz and Costello continued with “I come to offer my heart”, that jewel and almost an anthem that the man from Rosario recorded on the album “Giros”.

It should be remembered that Fito Páez will perform in Rosario as part of the "30 Years of Love After Love" tour on Thursday, December 8, Saturday, December 10, and Sunday, December 11 at the Humberto De Nito Municipal Amphitheater, in Urquiza Park.

Antonio Riccobene writes for Perfil.com on 10 October:

A rodar mi vida, eternamente

Or in "English" via Google Translate:

"With a luxury guest, Fito Páez rocked the New York night

El Rosario finished his leg of the US tour, with Elvis Costello singing and playing guitar on two songs. He continues in Venezuela and then goes to Europe

A mandatory stop. Fito Páez arrived in New York to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Love After Love" at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. In a concert of more than two hours, the man from Rosario reviewed the album that he celebrates and played classics for all tastes.

This show had the particularity of two special guests, the British singer-songwriter, Elvis Costello and Rosario Cesar Debernardi, a friend of Páez. The first sang in "I come to offer my heart" in a Spanish with a lot of will that the English made an effort to pawn to sing the theme. Páez introduced him as a friend whom he considered a "hero" before meeting him. And he talked about the difficulty of meeting your idols. To give him this presentation, the man from Rosario spoke in English, something difficult for the New Yorkers who were in the room to understand. On Sunday night, there was also a time to greet John Lennon, who on October 9th marked the 82nd anniversary of his birth.

To roll my life, eternally

The night began at 8:30 p.m., half an hour later than scheduled. As in Buenos Aires, Rosario played the 14 songs on the album that he celebrates in a row. A Tumbas de la Gloria he highlighted it as the song that marks a turning point on the album and he remembered when he composed it with a two-string guitar in Europe. The applause came when he highlighted Luis Alberto Spinetta as one of the composers of Pétalo de Sal. With Brillante sobre el Mic the lights of the theater were paid for, and the cell phones did their thing with the flashlights.

With the elegance that characterizes him, Páez was upset because they turned on the air conditioning in the place. At first, he tried to cover his chest with his shirt that was unbuttoned at the first button. Then he started with the rest of the scarf, until they handed him a scarf from the staff that he ended up using to flit around shouting "Roll with my life."

All this was seen by around five thousand people from all over the world who filled the emblematic theater of New York art deco in the 1930s. Radio City Music Hall is an architectural piece by Edward Durell Stoll that has 5,931 seats. From there came Argentines, Uruguayans, Venezuelans, Paraguayans, among others born in Latin America, and New Yorkers listened to the singer from Rosario.

Fito Páez started a record tour for the 30 years of 'Love After Love'

An Argentine woman in her 50s took her daughter and her partner, “El Gringo”, to see the show. "I left Argentina 30 years ago and we came here from Chicago to listen to it," she said. So it was that mother and daughter sang (she is not Argentine, but she knew the songs from listening to her mother) throughout the show, one of the most anticipated.

With an interval of ten minutes, Páez renewed his energy to go out and play the best of his stage after El Amor tras el Amor. He began with El Diablo de tu Corazón, but at this time songs like Circo Beat, 11 y 6, Al side of the road. With the goal of playing the best-selling album in the history of national rock once again, Páez began to play with the public. "I want to see blood in the public," he said to encourage people to sing. In addition, he divided the public into Circo Beat so that one sector cates and another does the chorus of the chorus.

The tour continues on October 13 in Caracas, Venezuela and then crosses the Atlantic Ocean to play on the 25th and 29th of the same month in Madrid and Barcelona."

A plain shame apparently no video clip has surfaced. Always nice to see even a tiny tidbit of what we missed.
