And I think the Guys and Dolls reference has a twist - doesn't he say "the devil will drag you under, by the shark tail fin of your cheque account". Though I could be wrong!

I agree that Button My Lip is a stinker, but I can't agree about This Town - I like the nutty imagery and the swirly, disorientating sound of it - and Pony Street ushers in Brutal Youth in fine style, I reckon!

In the Comedians (on the Roy Orbison version) "The winds picks up", there's a chilly breeze of strings at that point.

Agree about Night Rally ! It's one of my fave Elvis tracks - the powerful build to its many punchy moments "I know what they're doing but I don't wanna look", "get that chicken outta here", "singing in the showers", "tak - ing - those... night claaasses". The ...

Agreed about "Little Atoms". The whole intro reminds me of electrons circling around a nucleus, kinda thing.

I think it's a stunner, the way it builds, the arrangement getting more and more intense, with the kettle drums etc. Superb. The sadness of the chorus melody is gorgeous.

Elvis's sound effects music

That thread about Satellite reminded me of how our Elv likes occasionally to illustrate a lyric with a musical sound effect. I'm thinking of the moment in the song when he sings "as cartoon bubbles burst in the air" - as he sings it, you hear a musical version of bubbles bursting in the ai...

So what did Elvis actually sing? And was his vocal mic turned down, or his guitar?

Now you've given your performance
Though the matinee was idle (idol)
And you find out that a wave of her right hand could seem so tidal

However, I gotto say I love "You lack lust - you're so lacklustre" is a great gag! No problems with that one at all!

Fantastic

Had chance to give it a whirel, and those chords seem pretty darn good to me. Thanks so much for that! Anyone got In The Mood Again sorted?

Cheers,

There used to be a few people on the Mark Schnitzius/John Everingham site who used to be great at working out even the trickiest stuff - they were always getting their chords posted on that site. Tried emailing one of them - Christian Korbanka, his name was - bit didn't get anywhere!!!

Just simple, thereabouts chords would be fine. I think I'm in the mood again is pretty straightforward - based around DGA - up until the bit "I don't know what's come over me"...

Anyway, any help would be gratefully received!

Chords, anyone?

Hi all - I know I ask this every so often, but some new people may've joined who might be able to help out. Does anyone know the chords to "You Turned To Me", "I'm In The Mood Again" and "Fallen" from the album North? Fingers crossed - ain't had much success so far! Neil

I don't think it's dire, and am gutted that Elvis has tried to expunge it from his musical history! Okay, a couple of the lines are a bit ropey ("when you've got a face like last week's cornflakes"), but all in all it's a great knees-up, I reckon! Anyone else like it?

I love the Scarlet Tide melody, but the image has always bothered me! A tide doesn't trickle, and it can't be up in a mountain, as it's at sea level! So he should ditch the tide imagery, and call it a stream! "We'll rise above the scarlet stream That trickles down through the mountain...."...

I'd love to see this show, but I presume it'll never surface on DVD, what with being a charity concert. Some of the song choices sound odd for Broadway types - Pump It Up?! - but some choices make more sense. Of the ones that aren't in the above list, The Long Honeymoon is straight out of Broadway, ...

Hear clips from the Hans Andersen opera

Hit "Listen again to this show" on this page http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/arts/ to hear music from the Hans Andersen opera. There's a whole piece on it, about ten mins from the end of the show. Came home pissed from the pub, put the radio on, and there it was! First impressions were, ...

'Tart' is one of his best melodies and vocals, and 'Oh Well' is absolutely gorgeous - great production - love the way the sound matches at the point he mentions an astronaut in that great line I had a dream once, or so I thought I'd be a pilot or an astronaut I had a dream like that until I found Ev...

For me it's essential. If you want to introduce someone to Elvis, this is the one. The urgency of it - the competitive playing. The entire band are trying to outdo one another and prove themselves with incredibly melodic playing. The arrangements are spiky and thrilling. Only drawback is, I find tha...

P.S. Do you reckon Elvis will go down well at Glasto? I think he means almost nothing to anyone born after about 1978! I think he'll struggle to get much of a reaction, but I hope I'm wrong!
