North Sea Jazz July 8, 2004 - ' May Flame Burns Blue' show
Just got back from The Hague. What must I say: the Metropole Orchestra is a fantastic Jazz Orchestra. They have a vital sound with a lot of finesse. About 80% of the people were older business people with their wives, dressed in 'gala-dresses', problably unknown to any EC song and having an alcohols...

I still think this reissue thing is a scam!!!!!! Why not make a couple of collections with all the extra material so we don't have to buy every last one of his CD's for the second time..??? I think that a boxset with only the bonusdisc-tracks misses a kind of historical view: it is more interesting...

Since Emmylou Harris and Lucinda Williams will sing on the new album, I presume that all of the 'Deliveryman'-songs will appear on the album. I guess we can expect Heart Shaped Bruise, I Dreamed Of My Old Lover Last Night (although not rehearsed in the 'South'),... Is She Is Pulling Out The Pin a De...

Is 201,000 a poor return for EC? Im not sure, but the US must be his biggest market (non-relatively of course 8) )...it'd be interesting to compare sales of all his records after one year, and compare! Anyone know where this info is? Maybe JohnE's? I think it's more important if an album becomes a ...

201,000 copies. That's strange. He is selling at the rate of Saves the Day and Glassjaw. It thus proves the point that Elvis Costello is an underground favorite with cult followers (was this ever in doubt- Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame inductions aside?). Do you guys think that the next album will sell...

Il Sogno is just an instrumental (orchestral) score. Expect no singing of EC. What troubles me more is that HMV only talks of a single disc. What happened to the promised bonusdisc with the orchestral songs to be recorded at the North Sea Jazz Festival? And one more puzzling thing: his official webs...

Just been listening to a tape of this show, and it's incredible. Their Meltdown collaboration appeared fairly promptly, hopefully this will too. Elvis really is on fire these days. If this any indicator of things to come, the album in the autumn will be a new high. When I read the setlist, I was a ...

two more shows at North Sea Jazz!
According to the website http://www.northseajazz.nl, EC will play two more shows at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague (Holland). Besides the Gala Concert on Thursday July 8th, he will play two more shows with The Metropole Orchestra on Friday July 9th. One show at 19.00 hrs and a second show ...

Damn, have spent the weekend misssing stuff on TV! Would have liked to have seen this, especially to have a look at Pete ('brushwork on North so ethereal it almost doesn't exist') Erskine. I have seen it, and yes, Pete Erskine was great. Although I'm not a musician (or drummer), I could see that he...

Wow, I never thought that I would like the new DK album
Bought The Girl In The Other Room yesterday and I'm completely overwhelmed by it. I bought The Look Of Love a few months ago and I didn't liked it at all: too much slickness, no real emotion, bad choices of covers! But The Girl is something completely different: great singing, real emotion, good cho...

Which songs will EC&I play in Oxford?
We may have only a few hours before the first reports from Oxford will come in, so maybe we could try to guess which songs EC&I will play there. Although he played a lot of 'Deliveryman' - songs during the last concerts of the North- American tour, I think they are not that suitable for the Impo...
