Re: Who IS the hot water guy ?

That must be Milo who glowers at the crowd as he places the steaming lemon tea drink in place ! Actually Milo has invariably been generous enough to find me a setlist when I've asked for one !

Re: New Album(s) Being Recorded in Nashville

Seems to me, EC is becoming more and more immersed in Americana but I don't have any problems with that. If you forgive my age here, they initial "surprise" of the first 4 albums will never again be repeated and I'd hate to hear a watered-down version of any of the early stuff whereas both...

Re: "Get Happy" Thirty Years Strong

Neil and Yps - spot on for me too- B&C is my "bastard" album which I play really loudly, when I'm mad .
Brutal Youth probably just makes 3 if only because of Bruce's playing on 13 Steps, Hell and of course Sulky Lad ( I mean Girl !!)

Re: "Get Happy" Thirty Years Strong

GH - still the most awesome album EC has made by a country mile imho. It inspired me to learn to play the bass and still, 30 years on, it's a pale comparison of Bruce's fluid, groove ( how can a man play with such a sense of pace and rhythm and dance like he's never heard of "best" - see t...

Re: Elvis Costello: Twist and turns trivia

But obviously not Greek defenders - sympathies Colin but not as much as I need when I'll be crying tomorrow at 6 !! I love Elvis' ability to use unexpected words in his lyrics, too many to mention but the couplet from "All The Rage" Alone with your tweezers and your handkerchief, you murde...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

I loved the Ferguson interview - of course United never waste time when they're winning - he obviously wants the "next goal wins it " rule introduced for home sides only that play at Old Trafford !

Re: So Here It Is, Merry Christmas Everybody

Having worked Wednesday and Thursday nights, my Christmas was low key (a sleep for 3 hours in the morning and then intermittent dozing for the afternoon, but I did manage to wind everyone up with my present of Christmas from the Heart by Bob - what a classic in every sense of the word  I'll be ...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

I reckon I'm a fairly knowledgeable football fan and I didn't know Ryan boy was of mixed race and I doubt SLL would have deliberately been racist about the Welsh wonder (sic) had he known, but for heaven's sake, if he molted every year to get a winter coat. Old Trafford would be knee deep in pubes b...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

To be honest, it was hard to tell who was worse, us in the first half or Liverpool in the second. Still it's three points and for once I'll take "winning ugly". As regards SPOTY, Giggs deserves some sort of accolade but I'm not sure that what he's done this year is anywhere near as impress...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

I'm being cheeky and taking recordings of your original fine gift of Costello covers by their original artists for all the folk in the Garrick and will raise a glass to Villa winning for the first time in 26 years at the Theatre of (Wet) Dreams and the admirable way the U.S battled manfully in the W...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Otis, you can't complain about teams scoring in time added on !!! However, I'm delighted that the premiership team nearest to where I live gets to lose to you in the Final !! It also looks great that Angelotti brought on the big guns when it looked like they might lose and it failed. Now could Giggs...

A league cup match where I couldn't decide who I wanted to lose most !!! However, since you keep the spirit of playing your 2nd string alive despite the opposition, I'm guess I'm more delighted that the other team in North London lost (Hahaha) Dream result tonight would be our second team outs...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Dear Otis, I can forgive almost anything except blind prejudice ( !!!)but as a lifelong Gooner, I'm also getting sick of us playing matches against better teams (you in last year's Champions League and Chelsea all too often) and appearing like boys against men. The comments on Radio5 about us ...
