I too assumed 'the nasty' meant nasty-smelling. Sex is beautiful, not nasty, so I'm proud to be the first to vote for watching his team score (come on, you lame-o Arse, Pool and Spurs fans!). Although if relief is pleasure, the feekling I got in the toilet of the pub Doof and I visited after Lloyd C...

Where's Hungup?

Where's he gone? Seems to be the main casualty (in terms of frequent and quality posting) of the transition from Narbawlz to here. Surely he knows where to find us. Maybe he decided it was tome to break the habit and went for hypnotism therapy.

£80 was the good doctor's charge! See p. 1. Bowie was £52 with all the bullshit added (sadly wayahead's bullshit was the same as Ticketmaster's). £52 is nothing for the seriously committed... The PMs were working - all three of them. The 'debug' thing seems to have stopped. But where are the email a...

I'm with you, Doof, and what a shame we didn't have more time for a droolsome conversation over this great LP. I agree You're Misssing is sad beyond sad, and it was incredibly powerful live. I disagree with Into The Fire, it's every bit as sad and direct as You're Missing, and it was just amazingly ...

Just as well we're re-mortgaging the house. And there are still at least 4 reissues I haven't got round to yet... I don't think I could handle these three (all of which will be immediate compulsory purchases) coming out in the same month as North and A Reality, so good job we'll have them here soone...

I can't wait. Elvis on Deutsche Gramophon! And anything that involves a nonet has to be good for the soul. I reckon this will be deeply involving. So does this mean we have new discs from Bowie and Costello in the same month? I'm living for September (not to mention November). Martin: I'm impressed ...

Are they so bad? Not as much fun as The Pogues' Fiesta, perhaps, also inspired by this film, and hilarious with it, especially the mongrel Spanish bits. I knew someone who had a job of reporting from the set of Straight To Hell. He had heard all about the legendary behavious or Shane and co., but st...

What's this?

Taz, why did I just get this when trying to post? New one to me:

Failed sending email ::
DEBUG MODE
Line : 225
File : /home/eucjw/public_html/phpBB2/includes/emailer.php

Despite getting this, the post worked as normal! Most odd. Not to worry as long as the posts post.

For me it's their best work by a long way. They did some great songs earlier on, but I always had reservations, whereas ATYCLB seems to me that they've hit a new level of quality which is both very straightforward and very powerful.

No prizes indeed. I couldn't care less if he churned out drivel for years in the 80s, everything he did from Space Oddity through to Scary Monsters was genius. How anyone can describe someone else as more imaginative, I don't know. Imaginative in different ways, sure, but not more. I love much of wh...

mannered and a little exaggerated, I grant you, but a great and distinctive voice, nonetheless. Just great at conveying intense emotion. That's a gift.

I heard that Libertango on the radio the other day. It sounded amazingly familiar, and I realised it was because of Grace Jones's fabulous 'I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango' from one of my all-time favourite LPs, Nightclubbing. That comes across as very French due to the lovely Frence accordio...

Never heard it. I think it was re-released recently. If I like that 'young man' song (had it in my head for weeks after that doc), will I like the rest of the LP? I just remember What's She Like? being a bit weak and that the 'new clothing direction' thing was just getting silly.

Faraway, So Close over The Wings of Desire aka Der Himmel Über berlin (Cielo Sobre Berlin)? I tapes FSC the other night, but haven't watched it yet, and almost don't want to, knowing it can't match the magic of the first one, which I saw many times over and loved to death.

Isn't there something just so exciting about the fixtures when they get announced? I've got up till Christmas in my diary. Good technique! Poor Kev. Did anyone see the almost heartbreaking doc a couple of years ago where he rued the arrogance and stupidity of his early days? Along the lines of 'We made some great music, but at what a price', and then this powerful song I didn't know over the closing credits from Don't S...
