40 years and 2 days on ....................................................... After the rather disappointing recording from Sunrise, the tour ends with a sublime recording which again sounds very similar in quality to these from New York and Bridgeport. It may well be an audience recording but the balance and detail from this recording ( first posted here by pschpcaniac in July last year) has levels of detail which make wrapping up this tour a joy ( if only I was finishing here of course!) There is the genuine feel of a live recording with audience noise but it's kept to the background and in no way interferes with any of the actual performances. This differs from the torrent put here earlier in that the pitch need to go up by 32 cents to get it in tune but it needed nothing extra from me other than to sit back and enjoy and it made the work put in so far with differing quality recordings seem insignificant. This surely represents some of the finest ensemble playing by Elvis and The Attractions and whilst the setlists began to become uniform, the improvisational talents of all The Attractions made each performance unique and interesting. I tried to listen especially to the individual parts of the band during this final extended concert and noted in particular, Pete's gentle brushwork in "Watch Your Step", the amazing dexterity and flourishes Steve put into "And In Every Home", the entire band performance of "Imperial Bedroom " tracks such as "Shabby Doll", "Kid About It", "The Long Honeymoon" and "Clubland" and Bruce's swinging bass lines through some of the r'n'b and soul covers such as "From Head To Toe, "Two Steps From The Blues" and "Danger Zone" where Pete's staccato drum work also enhances the whole feel. Elvis has occasionally praised Davey Farragher's swinging bass as though he were introducing something absent from The Attractions but Bruce's playing here show he could mimic Duck Dunn or James Jamerson at their best too. Elvis isn't absent from some sublime work, his guitar playing on "Walk And Don't Look Back" is really great and his singing is probably nearing the peak of his career before he began to diverge into different musical and vocal formats. The way he croons "Still he looks so neat" during "Imperial bedroom" is really spine-tingling. So the tour ends with one of the best recordings from that era and must be regarded as a major triumph artistically for Elvis and the Attractions but then begs the question - where and what next ?
