Just got back from a Spinal Tap reunion concert Monday night at Carnegie Hall. Elvis Costello watched most of the show — which was the New York stop of Tap's current Back From The Dead reunion mini-tour — from the 5th row.
About three quarters through the show EC discreetly left his seat and proceeded to join the band on stage, leading a rousing rendition of Tap's early hit, "Gimme Some Money." Elvis did all the main vocals and played some lead guitar.
After the song, lead singer David St. Hubbins thanked EC effusively, proclaiming to the crowd, "He'll be back before we will." The EC jam was the highlight of a hilarious show, which definitely rocked (to borrow from Derek Smalls) Carnegie "Fucking" Hall.
